Family Health Center’s Mission

To increase access to, and availability of high quality comprehensive primary and preventative health care for the vulnerable of the Heart of Texas and to provide an excellent educational, training, and research environment in the medical, dental, and behavioral health fields.

FHC History

Family Health Center was founded in 1969. Uniquely developed from a coalition of business, political, and medical leaders pulling together to solve community problems. We now have 15 remote clinics spread throughout the McLennan County area.

We are here to provide the best quality healthcare services to the vulnerable population of our community. FHC was created to address a shortage of doctors, lack of primary care access to the less fortunate population, and economic development.

What we do

One of the many things we have going on is Reach Out and Read. Reach Out and Read is a nonprofit organization that trains and supports medical providers who give books to children. During regular pediatric checkups, Reach Out and Read pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants give new, developmentally-appropriate books to children, ages 6 months through 5 years, and advise parents about the importance of reading aloud to their children.
